Black history walks Yorkshire

Gina Tavares Manuel is a founding member, creator, and vision behind Heritage Crew. It was she who created Heritage Crew and envisioned for it to grow with the community, inspire the next generation, cultivate creativity, harness skills, and be a safe place for all to enjoy and connect.

At only 25 years old, Gina managed to touch the hearts of everyone she met.

"Gina brought light and intelligence to all she did and along with many others around Leeds and wider afield, we were very lucky to be blessed by Gina's infectious smile. Gina always spoke glowingly about her family and our thoughts are with them for their loss.

After years of being mentored by esteemed poet, Khadijah Ibrahiim, Gina brought many skills to her role as a founder member of Heritage Crew in 2023. In a short space of time: Gina helped to shape what Heritage Crew should be about, contributed toward CIC status, and drove through successful funding bids. We will endeavour to build on Gina's vision and aspirations." - The Heritage Team
